Our Story

SINCE 2004

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Idma-Kapel was founded from the vision of Marinda Teubes, who served as a teacher for many years while often taking responsibility for food preparation and post-function clean-up. Driven by a passion for hospitality and creating memorable experiences, she dreamed of establishing a venue on the Kapel farm where guests could enjoy exceptional food, warm hospitality, and unforgettable events. At the time, Vredendal had no suitable venue for such occasions.

In 2000, after Spruitdrift Kelder failed to compensate them for that year’s harvest, the opportunity arose to pursue this long-held dream. Marinda further expanded her culinary expertise by attending numerous cooking courses and gaining valuable experience while working alongside Peter Veldsman in his restaurant. Shortly thereafter, construction of the venue began, and in August 2004, Idma-Kapel hosted its very first function.

Over the past twenty years, the business has continued to grow and evolve. Marinda remained committed to professional development by regularly attending food and hospitality courses and staying up to date with industry trends. Today, the entire family remains actively involved, with the next generation contributing enthusiastically to the daily operations.

Idma-Kapel offers four guest rooms where visitors can enjoy the peaceful freedom of farm life. The venue hosts a wide variety of events, including weddings, conferences, functions, and children’s parties, the latter now also managed by the daughters-in-law. The facility is fully equipped with a sound system, air conditioning, projector and screen, as well as a licensed and fully equipped bar to complement its hospitality offering.
